Amazing time. My wife and I are in our early 20’s and she is currently 7 months pregnant. Needless to say we were skeptical about the event at first. But words can’t express the amount of talent these actors bring to the table. Thank you for such an amazing night. I have referred this to all of my friends so they can enjoy such an amazing and uniqe experience. They way so many people out of the audience were included throughout the show was amazing. There is simply nothing else to compare this experience to. It brought my family closer in so many ways and as a whole, I simply can’t express my gratitude enough for everything you did to include us all. I will be attending your future shows as long as you are running. Can’t wait for more. Thanks again to all of you. I wish you the best of luck in the future! Looking forward to another amazing experience. Keep up the AMAZING work! Delain T. (March 2016)
This was so much fun. I have never been to anything like this before and wasn’t sure really what to expect. I haven’t laughed this much in a long time. I would definitely go again.Kelly S. (February 2016)
My Boyfriend and I attended this Halloween event at the Lumber Baron and from start to the end was a hilariously good time. I really didn’t know what to expect and was afraid it was going to be seriously corny but I was pleasantly surprised that it was actually a lot of fun. First they introduce that the house is for sale and the woman playing the realtor leads you in and once you check in they give you chips to play with in the casino which I didn’t expect that was cool, you grab a drink and start playing then its on to dinner (which wasn’t bad, they serve it buffet style) and the show it’s crazy silly but still fun and they involve the audience which is awesome. So if you’d like to try something different, if you enjoy theater and comedy and want to do something apart from the norm for Halloween I say check it out you won’t be disappointed. kashet (October 2015)
So much fun; this show was hysterical and very well done! The actors/magicians performed excellent magic tricks and acted out their roles with gusto! The dinner was delicious; especially the decadent chocolate cake. In short, we loved it! Will be back again.Jodi L. (September 2015)
We all had a blast. It was a lot of fun and laughs. The food was good too.Sydney L. (August 2015)
It was dinner theater and a laugh riot from the minute we walked in the door till the show is over. The meal was unexpectedly good, with the choice between chicken and salmon as well as potatoes vegetable and salad. I can’t reveal everything that happened it would spoil your experience but our tickets were $60 apiece and well well worth it. If you have the chance enjoy this hidden Denver gem.Safranski (June 2015)
Wonderfully fun Murder Mystery Dinner in a stunningly restored Victorian mansion. Poker tables were fun, the food was great, and the actors (including the audience) are wonderfully hammy yet talented, kept everything moving – highly recommended, we left feeling great!Denver C. (April 2015)
I don’t normally write reviews for anything but I felt that we had such a great experience that it is needed! My family and I stayed the night and went to the Casino Night Heist and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Walt, the owner of the Lumber Baron made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. He gave us a tour of the Inn and told us about the history behind the beautiful bed and breakfast. We stayed in the Col Franklin room and it was comfortable for the two of us. The cast of the Casino Night Heist were hilarious and attentive. Our favorite of the night was Stephanie Bruce who played the hilarious Willy Whet, an aspiring game show host. She was hilarious the entire time and made sure to learn all of the names of the folks sitting at her blackjack table. I would suggest this mystery dinner theater to absolutely everyone! We left in the morning with great satisfaction and memories. It was worth every penny!Megan McMaster (March 2015)
My daughter and I attended their Murder Mystery dinner and had a really great time. I have to admit the show is “corny”, but not in the” roll of the eyes corny”, but fun and good laughs corny! You couldn’t help but like the owner and his fellow actors, really nice peeps. The dinner was good and the setting was fabulous, a very beautiful old home in the Highlands. A very enjoyable and memorable evening ….Steamboat-Chamber (February 2015)
Historic Home, Giving back … If you want a group night out, or a bed and breakfast this is the place! We had a Groupon Deal and WOW! The Murder Mystery was not only fun but it was just the perfect diversion! The home was AMAZING the Actors were fun, and yet real. I really felt like I was back in the 20’s and it’s a plus when the food is good tooJenn1963 (January 2015)
So, for our 34th anniversary, we stayed at the Lumber Baron Inn in Denver. I thought we deserved it, surely. It’s a mystery theater hotel. We had casino night where things were totally turned around, as in Rick won and I lost my butt. It was all fake money anyway. The food was wonderful, the mystery play was not totally silly – the actors & owner were good, good people. Funny, funny time. Met some life long friends and supporters for our cause. And, it’s the first time we’ve stayed up for New Years on a lotta years. Happy New Year everyone. And, happy anniversary to the love of my life, my best friend forever, Mr. HoffmeisterColeen H. We went there in early December of 2014 and the place is just great. The actors are just as pleasant as can be and if you go prepare to be part of the story. Even if you change things up as I did, the actors are able to play a long for a bit without getting away from their plans. The food is good and you won’t realize the time has flown by before you know who did it.Randy J. (December 2014)
We attended the murder mystery dinner and it was fabulous. The casino night was so much fun. The staff, all in character, made the event so enjoyable. The show was interactive and the food was delicious. The salmon, corn, rice, salad, rolls and dessert were all tasty and well prepared. The show was funny and witty. I will recommend to everyone! It is a must and the house is so beautiful and mysterious. Great time by all.Mia L. (November 2014)
My husband and I just did the Haunted House Hunt! Mystery Dinner last night and I’m still on a fun high!! I can’t believe how much I enjoyed this and even my quiet and introvert husband got to participate on stage and I got to seem him laugh out loud more than I’ve seen in a long while. The cast is full of amazing, talented, and friendly folk who make you feel truly welcomed and at ease. The food was very good with tasty desserts that follow. I can’t wait to go back for their next show and stay a night too! I’m hooked!Jesica T. (October 2014)
My wife and I stayed at the Inn for our Anniversary. It was a little something out of the norm for us but an incredibly welcome suprise. We attended the evening show and were highly entertained. Dinner was wonderfully prepared and presented. Everyone I observed cleaned their plates. The show was delightfully entertaing and we bonded with the cast quickly. Any reservations you might have about not feeling comfortable are quickly removed as the cast and crew make you feel very welcome and included right away. Special thanks to the Keller family for their hospitality. I forsee the Lumber Baron Inn as being a place we visit often.John M. (September 2014)
The evening began at 6, with casual cocktail banter between performers playing their roles & the guests. We then proceeded to the third floor ballroom, where the show began. Shortly there was an intermission, at which time dinner was served. OUTSTANDING! With decadent dessert & coffee, the show resumed. We soon found ourselves assigned the task of finding the murderer. The acting, costumes & ability to involve the audience were all superior. Thank you for a fun-filled evening!Barb H. (August 2014)
This was really where it started to get fun. Most people who were there knew what they were in for and participated wholeheartedly. Even people that I would have been like, oh they’re totally going to not do this did it and seemed to have a great time. We went over clues and stuff as a table and had to work out the mystery during dessert, which were gigantic, delicious cupcakes.Amanda D. (July 2014)
As soon as you walked in the beautiful mansion’s parlor, you met the cast of the show. All were in “Character” and characters. From the pompous Cyrus Powell to the lovely Racey. We were treated to the wondering minstrels and chatted up by Ms. Nussbaum. The guests had to wait in the parlor for the dinner to be ready. This gave the staff/actors time to chat and flirt and socialize with everyone. When dinner was ready, we were led upstairs to a ballroom. Then the fun began. Our theme was America’s Top Talent. Some of the guests were given lei’s at check-in. We knew this was not always a good thing. If you don’t like to participate in dinner theater, why are you here? Our friend was one of the lucky (unlucky?) guests. All had a great time. We are looking forward to go here again.Gunnermax (May 2014)
The service was amazing and the room was beautiful! I couldn’t have asked for more. Food during the dinner was tasty and presented beautifully! I would recommend this place to anyone and I have been raving about this place to so many already! Thank you Lumber Baron Inn and Gardens for an amazing night filled with laughter and great entertainment! We will definitely be coming back!!BlancaAndJohn (April 2014)
We had never done anything like this so my boyfriend and I were all about it! It was AMAZING!! Truly the best idea for a birthday, anniversary or fun night out.Kelli W. (April 2014)
I went to a murder mystery dinner. It was an amazing show. I played Texas Hold’em and Roulette. I had a pretty tasty dinner and dessert. And to top it all off, there was some interactive entertainment. I enjoyed the whole thing! Cynthia F. (March 2014)
Thank you for a fabulous evening AND morning! Our whole experience was great! The three of you, Walter, Julie and your son (we apologize, as we have forgotten your name), are a WONDERFUL team in this entire ‘venture’!!!!! Your staff are highly talented and do a superb job! Brent and Barb (March 2014)
I have to say that this is the best dinner theater I have ever been to!! The food was outstanding and the cast was amazing! If you’re coming to denver this is a most do. They even got my 75year old grandmother up on the stage.Jennifer V. (February 2014)
I’ve been to murder mystery places in the Denver area and this one is by FAR the best. The food is great, the cast is fun and they do a fantastic job of getting the audience involved. Be sure to show up at 6pm when they open the doors, especially on casino night when you can play blackjack, Texas hold-em, and roulette before dinner. I will definitely be going back soon!Marianne G. (January 2014)
